Build a Career That Works for You — and the Family You’re Building It For.

An in-person sleep medicine opportunity for a physician who wants excellent clinical work, meaningful support, real local authority and a career that can be intentionally designed around the life you want outside of medicine.

Independent · Physician-led Adult + Pediatric Sleep Medicine Clinic + Interpretations Medical Director / Site Lead Path
Start with the person

The question is not just “What job do you want?”

The real question is: what kind of life are you trying to build over the next five to ten years?

Maybe you want a highly productive clinical practice. Maybe you want a schedule that protects family time, travel or life outside medicine. Maybe you want to teach, mentor, lead a site or help build something more enduring than a schedule.

At Dream Sleep Center, we want to understand that destination first — then design the work around it in a way that also creates real value for the organization.

“A great career should support a great life. We want to understand what you are trying to build — clinically, personally and as a family — and then determine whether we can build a path toward it together.”
— Bradley W. Smith, DO · Founder & Medical Director
The opportunity

Start in Colorado Springs. Lead the location. Help shape what comes next.

The immediate opening is an in-person sleep medicine role in Colorado Springs, with expected progression toward Colorado Springs Medical Director & Site Lead responsibilities after the initial ramp.

01 · Practice

Broad sleep medicine

Primarily in-person adult and pediatric sleep medicine, with consultations, follow-ups and interpretations integrated into the normal workflow.

02 · Lead

Real site authority

Clinical quality, people leadership, APP development, workflow improvement, hiring input and awareness of site performance.

03 · Grow

Expand your impact

For the right person, leadership can grow beyond one site into additional Dream locations, broader clinical leadership and future growth opportunities.

Remote interpretation and telemedicine capability already exist within Dream, but this specific opening is intentionally an in-person Colorado Springs role.

Career + life design

Construct the version of practice that works for you and your family.

We do not assume every excellent physician wants the same workweek, the same income target or the same amount of leadership. The role can be designed to fit the season of life you are actually in.

TimeProtect what matters outside of work.
Clinical MasteryDo meaningful, high-level sleep medicine.
ImpactLead, teach, build or simply practice well.
Lifestyle / expert

Protect time without wasting expertise.

Approximately three clinical days, clinic plus interpretations, selected mentoring and more freedom for the rest of life.

Producer

Focus on the clinical work you love.

High-efficiency clinic, strong support and transparent productivity upside for the physician who wants to produce at a high level.

Builder

Turn responsibility into opportunity.

Clinical work plus Medical Director/Site Lead responsibilities, APP development, team leadership and growth work.

Your mix

These are starting points — not boxes.

The role can evolve over time as your family, interests and goals change.

A different operating model

Your workday should end when you leave the clinic.

Dream is designed around reducing the routine after-hours work that follows physicians home.

No hospital call.
No routine evening charting.
No weekend inbox backlog as the operating model.
True clinical questions become visits rather than unmanaged inbox work.
Local authority instead of slow committee decisions.
Compensation tied to contribution and responsibility.
Physician work stays physician-level

Clinical judgment · patient care · interpretations · leadership

Routine questions and repeatable processes are routed through Freedom Maps, SOPs, scripts and staff workflows. The intent is to keep the physician focused on the work that truly requires physician judgment.

What supports balance

Work-life balance is not a slogan. It has to be engineered.

If the practice design is broken, the physician pays for it with nights, weekends and family time. Dream's support model is intended to prevent that.

20 / 1020-minute consults and 10-minute follow-ups within a supported system
MADedicated MA / sleep coordinator to keep flow, orders and patient movement on track
ScribeDedicated human scribe to keep documentation from coming home with you
LocalSite-level authority so decisions move faster and work feels lighter
Human support

We build the team around the physician.

Efficiency is not asking the physician to move faster while doing five jobs. It is making sure the right work is done by the right person.

Dedicated MA / Sleep CoordinatorPatient preparation, flow, orders, coordination and follow-through.
Dedicated Human ScribeReal-time documentation, document routing and chart-completion support during the workday.
Shared Scheduling + Front OfficeRouting, access and capacity scaled with provider count.
Shared Billing + OperationsAuthorizations, billing, infrastructure and operational follow-through.
A day that works

20-minute consults. 10-minute follow-ups. Interpretations built into the day.

Dream's physician schedule is designed so documentation, orders, routing and task work happen in parallel — not after clinic. The exact template is customized around the physician's goals and responsibilities.

Efficiency here does not mean rushing. It means eliminating wasted work and keeping each teammate focused at the right level.

Illustrative workday

Clinic + interpretation rhythm

Daily huddle → consults/follow-ups → interpretation blocks → lunch/reset → afternoon clinic → interpretation/close-loop time.

The physician makes clinical decisions and interprets studies while the MA/coordinator manages flow and next steps and the scribe documents in parallel.

Broad clinical practice

See the whole sleep-medicine patient journey.

Dream connects consultation, testing, interpretation, results, treatment and longitudinal follow-up inside one clinical model.

Obstructive sleep apnea + PAP management

Hypersomnia / narcolepsy
Restless legs + broader sleep medicine

Family matters

A good career move should make life better at home too.

When physicians think about a next chapter, they are usually thinking about much more than work: spouse or partner, children, school, finances, commuting, time freedom, travel and the shape of everyday life.

1
Time autonomy
Choose a role structure that better protects evenings, weekends and family rhythm.
2
Geography that helps
Colorado Springs offers a strong city base with direct access to the outdoors and a desirable lifestyle.
3
Career that can evolve
What works at one life stage may not be the same five years from now. The model can flex.
4
Think beyond salary
Income matters, but so do control of time, family fit, stress load and the meaning of the work itself.
If the role is “great on paper” but does not work for your family, then it is not the right role.
Quality + safety

The right patient. The right pathway. The right setting.

Patients scheduled for overnight outpatient testing are clinically screened in advance so the lab team has a clinical picture before the patient arrives. Higher-acuity patients can be directed to a setting with appropriate cardiopulmonary support rather than asking an outpatient sleep lab to be something it is not.

Screen

Clinical evaluation first

Appropriateness for outpatient testing is considered before the overnight study.

Route

Match setting to risk

Patients requiring higher-acuity support can be routed to the appropriate setting.

Protect

Support patients + technologists

Important clinical decisions happen before 2:00 AM rather than being pushed onto an overnight technologist.

Real leadership

Lead the location — not just the schedule.

The intended role is Sleep Medicine Physician with progression into Colorado Springs Medical Director & Site Lead responsibilities after the initial ramp.

Clinical quality

Standards, safety, judgment and outcomes.

People leadership

Staff feedback, coaching and team issues.

APP development

Mentorship, escalation support and increasing independence.

Workflow

Clinical flow, local scheduling and Freedom Map improvement.

Hiring input

Help select the people you will work with and lead.

Site performance

Clinical, operational and financial awareness without turning the physician into the office manager.

Major legal, ownership, enterprise-strategy and high-level financial decisions remain at the founder / ownership level.

How we lead

Leadership without meeting overload.

No generic administrative half-day. Leadership is integrated into a predictable operating rhythm.

Daily

Huddle

Brief, tactical, focused on the day ahead.

Weekly

Operations

Issues, metrics, ownership and next actions.

Monthly

Strategic

Priorities, improvement and growth.

Quarterly

Direction

Goals, larger decisions and course correction.

Onboarding

Experienced physician. Short ramp. Proven system.

You already know how to practice medicine. Onboarding is about learning how Dream Sleep Center practices.

Weeks 1–2

Learn the model

Freedom Maps, support roles, documentation, screening, lab processes and culture. Lighter schedule while you learn the operating system.

Weeks 3–4

Build the rhythm

Increase clinical flow, integrate interpretations, direct the MA/scribe team and learn escalation pathways.

Weeks 5–6

Lead the site

Move toward full operating rhythm, identify improvements and assume Colorado Springs Medical Director & Site Lead responsibilities.

What success looks like

We measure outcomes — not how long you sit at a desk.

The standard: does the site become clinically better, operationally stronger and easier to work in because you are leading it?

Excellent patient care

Safe decisions, strong judgment and appropriate testing.

Patients feel heard

Clear plans, strong experience and long-term treatment success.

Work completed in the day

Closed charts, lean inbox and clean handoffs.

Efficient clinic flow

The 20-minute consult / 10-minute follow-up model works without routine after-hours spillover.

Strong team culture

Respect, ownership, coaching and accountability.

Continuous improvement

Freedom Maps improve and broken processes get fixed quickly.

Culture

Growth. Love. Ownership. Excellence.

Clinical productivity does not excuse entitlement, disrespect, rigidity or poor teamwork. Great clinicians must also be great teammates.

GrowthKeep becoming a better clinician, teammate, leader and person.
LoveSeek the long-term best interest of patients and teammates.
OwnershipSee the problem, take responsibility and help solve it.
ExcellenceDo work you are proud to put your name on — and help others succeed too.
Garden of the Gods · Colorado Springs
Live in Colorado

Build a serious medical career in a place you actually want to live.

Colorado Springs combines a substantial city with immediate access to the Front Range, Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. The clinic is at 1710 Jet Stream Drive, Suite 215 in northern Colorado Springs.

A career move affects more than the physician. It affects a spouse or partner, children, finances, commute, schools, routines and the life you want outside medicine.

If the role is right but the move does not work for your family, the role is not right. As the conversation becomes serious, we can help think through the practical details without pretending every family wants the same version of Colorado.

The role begins locally. For the right physician-leader, impact can expand from one site to multiple locations and broader systemwide clinical leadership.

A mature Southern Colorado clinical base.

NextFront Range

Repeat what works with strong local leadership.

FutureSelected markets

Broader clinical leadership where the model and people justify it.

Compensation philosophy

Your compensation should reflect the career you choose.

Market data provide guardrails. Dream's final structure is built around role design, productivity, physician support and meaningful leadership responsibility.

Stable foundation

Competitive guaranteed compensation or draw appropriate to the role and market.

Productivity upside

Physicians who create more clinical value should be able to earn more without an arbitrary ceiling.

Leadership value

Medical Director, site leadership, APP development and growth responsibilities should be visibly and separately valued.

Detailed compensation benchmarks, formulas and individualized illustrations are reserved for the confidential physician briefing and recruiting conversation. Potential ownership is a pathway for exceptional long-term fit and contribution — not an automatic day-one promise.

Who may fit

Clinical excellence is necessary. It is not enough by itself.

The ideal candidate is board-certified or board-eligible in Sleep Medicine. Primary specialty is not limiting. Experience is preferred, but alignment, coachability, clinical strength and leadership potential matter greatly.

Clinical excellence
Ownership mindset
Respect for staff + patients
Open to systems + feedback
Willing to lead people
Interested in building beyond today's schedule
The first question we will ask you:

“If your career and life have gone extraordinarily well five years from now, what does that look like?”
Frequently asked questions

A few things physician candidates usually want to know.

Is this an in-person or remote position?

The current physician opening is intentionally an in-person Colorado Springs role. Dream already has remote capability for interpretations and telemedicine, and future remote roles may become a separate pathway.

Is hospital call required?

No hospital call is built into the role. The physician recruiting model describes only a true sleep-lab emergency as a possible after-hours physician call.

Do I have to want to become an executive?

No. Dream's career-design model includes expert/lifestyle, producer and builder/medical-director paths. The mix can evolve over time.

What support does the physician have?

The operating model includes a dedicated MA/sleep coordinator, a dedicated human scribe, shared scheduling/front-office support and shared billing/operations infrastructure.

How quickly would I assume leadership?

The current physician architecture anticipates a roughly 2–6 week ramp, with site-lead responsibility increasing as the physician learns the Dream operating model and demonstrates readiness.

Is ownership part of the offer?

Not automatically. For the right long-term builder and leader, Dream is open to discussing a pathway toward ownership after alignment, leadership, clinical quality and value creation are demonstrated.
